Another Great Year

Happy New Year!!!

Wow, 2015 just flew by but what a great year it was. With this being only our second year of running a summer program, we had all sorts of new milestones. We had our official opening of the James C. Justice National Scout Camp, with some great Units that came and shared our inaugural Senior Scout Camp program with us including a contingent from the International Student Ambassador Program. We had a soft opening of the John D. Tickle National Training and Leadership Center with some great training conferences, including NAYLE. We also held our first annual Veterans’ Appreciation Day event! Getting to work with the Paralyzed Veterans of America and Wounded Warrior Project to help put on this event was an absolute pleasure and we can’t wait to host it again in 2016. We even had the first ever Girl Scout Jamboree here with 11 states being represented, those young ladies had a blast and we are excited to continue that partnership into the new year.  The list could go on, but we just wanted to say “Thank You!” to everyone that helped make this such a fun and successful year.

With 2016 rolling in, we have some exciting new pieces coming along with it too. We have our first Girl Scout High Adventure Week to kick off our Christen National High Adventure Base season. Our Veterans’ Appreciation Day event date has been set and will be held June 4th, more information on that will be released soon. We will even be hosting a camporee for the Buckskin Council. But our big milestone for 2016 will be the grand opening of the John D. Tickle National Training and Leadership Center! With over 20 different training conferences available this summer there is sure to be something for everyone.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did this year, and that your new year is a safe and prosperous one. Can’t wait to see everyone this summer!
