The Summit is nestled right next to the New River (which, ironically, is one of the oldest rivers in the world). The New River is home to some of the best whitewater rafting in the world. At the 2013 National Jamboree, Scouts and Venturers get to experience the flowing water first-hand as they board boats and head down the river along with their contingent members.

The National Park Service maintains the New River, keeping it in pristine condition for all to enjoy as they sightsee, raft, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, and more.

The Scouts who were at the Summit Shakedown described the New River experience as “lots of fun,” “informative,” and “wet.” The tour guides provided a history of the region as the trip progressed, pointing out interesting things about the area around the river that is being rafted.

Get registered today and get ready to experience what the New River has to offer. Visit www.bsajamboree.org.
