International Campfire to Provide Fellowship Across Cultures

Meeting new people and making new friends are highlights of the jamboree experience. On the evening of Friday, July 21st, the OA Recreation Committee is hosting a campfire-style international gathering at 7:30pm for jamboree youth staff and Basecamp Foxtrot-based participants. This is a unique opportunity to meet new friends and exchange cultures, neckerchiefs, patches and stories from around the world.

This cultural exchange between various colored uniforms will highlight differences in culture such as language, Scouting traditions and heritage and home life. Contingents and staff are encouraged to perform songs, skits, and showcase their unique skills by filling out the 2017 Jamboree International Campfire signup form. Any one may present a skill, song or skit; entire units or individual staff members. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and a mug to enjoy tea and coffee.

In addition to the campfire program, every day between 6pm and 11pm, all youth staff, Venturers, Explorers, and international Scouts and Scouters are welcome to gather in the OA recreation area (in the field between Basecamps Echo and Foxtrot) for movies, sports, video and board games and time to relax.

This unique opportunity is bound to showcase the exceptional diversity found at the 2017 National Jamboree.
