Is “SCOUTStrong” Stronger Than Regular-Plain-Old “Strong”?

Gravity plays a huge part in the activities at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. And Sir Isaac Newton himself once said, “Gravity isn’t just a good idea; it’s the law.”

Get out and get moving
Get out and get moving to receive your SCOUTStrong patch.

He also said something about bodies in motion tending to stay in motion. That’s the idea behind the new SCOUTStrong Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Challenge, a program designed to get Scouts and Scouters up and moving.

SCOUTStrong Is A Pledge

Participation is easy, but following through is a challenge. If you’re willing to commit and stick with it, there’s glory and fame and riches at the end of the road.

Not actually. But there is a really cool patch. All you have to do is:

  • Go here and register http://www.scouting.org/scoutstrongpala.aspx.
  • Do something active for 60 minutes each day (kids) or 30 minutes each day (adults).
  • Log it.
  • Keep that up for five days each week.
  • Keep that up for six weeks.
  • Be awesome.

Just start doing some kind of activity (there are over 100 to choose from, including gardening, which is kind of neat), and you’re on your way.

Get Summit-Fit

We like SCOUTStrong because it’s going to help people get ready for the Summit’s grand opening, which happens to be the 2013 National Scout Jamboree. This won’t be like past jambos, and it’s going to take a high level of fitness to get there. SCOUTStrong can help.[pullquote]Share the post and check out the new fitness guidelines at the Summit.[/pullquote]

What’s in it for you is a presidential certificate once you complete the challenge. And the aforementioned patch. Oh, and good health and fitness.

Don’t forget that part. It’s important.
