This course covers first aid care for injuries and illnesses that occur in austere areas. The course teaches participants how to overcome arduous terrain while delivering lifesaving care.
Participants will receive instruction from expert pre-hospital care instructors. HealthNet Aeromedical will be on site with their aircraft to discuss landing zone operations in the wilderness setting. Special dinner guest speakers will provide question and answer discussions.
Classroom and Hands on Training (H.O.T.). Much of the content will be delivered outdoors. This course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid standard.

Yeager Airport in Charleston WV is the closest airport serving major airlines. It is an hour northwest of SBR. Flights are limited, so watch your timing. The Charlotte NC airport is a 3.5-hour drive to the SE…all freeway. You are on your own arranging transportation to the Summit. GPS systems always find the “Glen Jean Post Office” near the Summit’s 24/7 gate, or use Lat: 37° 53′ N Longitude: 81° 06′ W

*Fee will include Lodging/3 students to a dorm room, food, tuition, and ATV half day trek.
REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND:
Current on Youth Protection Training (YPT expires every two years)
Current registration with the BSA
18 years or older for participants
Physically able to participate in outdoor training activities.
