Hiking Trails

Featuring Gottschalk Boardwalk
& other great trails
There are multiple hiking trails to enjoy on the property. We recommend walking our Gottschalk Boardwalk quietly connecting with nature and exploring the wetland ecosystem. Lucky hikers may catch a glimpse of a white-tailed deer taking a drink, or a bald eagle swooping and searching for its fishy dinner.


Featuring 3 onsite lakes
Fishing is available at 3 locations onsite: Scenic Goodrich Lake West, Tridave Lake, and the Cushman Family Fish Camp are the perfect place for spin, bait-cast, and fly fishing. Fishing rods and expert instruction are available. You are also welcomed to bring your own fishing gear!

Consol Energy Bridge

A "must-see" at the Summit
The CONSOL Energy Bridge spans a vast valley to keep the Summit connected. It’s a revolutionary engineering marvel as one of the first bridges to successfully complete construction with almost zero environmental impact to the valley below. With its wing tipped to appear as an eagle, you will feel as if your flying through the valley yourself.

Mountain Biking

Over 30 miles of trails
For more advanced Mountain Biking Enthusiasts, the Summit offers over 35 miles of trails. The trails weave in and out of the woods and offer one of the coolest ways to take in the West Virginia scenery. From beginner bikers to expert cyclists, there’s a trail for everyone. *Trail Maps available upon request; must provide your own equipment.

Sustainability Treehouse

A Unique Self-guided experience
The Sustainability Treehouse represents the BSA’s commitment to sustainable practices and policies. This award-winning building is like an interactive classroom where families can learn about everything from recycling practices to urban gardening.


Everyone could use s’more family time! Summit has all of the equipment that Families need to have an epic cookout with their whole crew. Above ground fire pits and wood are available to you as part of our lodging.


Boating 8 Stand up Paddleboarding
Need some time to cool off from the hot weather? An Aquatic wading area in our huge man-made Tridave Lake will be open for your family to dip their toes in or go Stand-up Paddleboarding in Goodrich Lake West.

Scouting Heritage Museum

At the Scott Visitors Center
Check out a free onsite museum that offers a look into the history of Scouting in America with seasonally rotating exhibits.

Family Game Nights

Get some good, old-fashioned, family bonding time while you’re here! We will have a large selection of outdoor game activities and board games for you and your family to enjoy during your stay.

THe Big Zip

Ages 10+
Soar over Summit Bechtel Reserve at 50 miles per hour on The Big Zip, one of the longest zip lines in North America. Families can enjoy a thrilling, one-of-a-kind zipline ride with amazing views. Zipline is over
3000 feet long.

Climbing at Boulder Cove

Show gravity who’s boss at our Boulder Cove climbing facility. We’ve got climbing routes for all skill levels – from novice to advanced with Auto-Belay Systems. Families can tackle the climbing wall and take in the awesome view from the top.

Weight Restrictions: 50-250lbs
Age Restrictions: 6+

Action Point Challenge Courses

Ages 10+
Turn the family fun up a notch by challenging yourself on our aerial rope course with a variety of elements! Not a fan of heights? No worries. Our trained staff will give you time to become more comfortable and teach you how to rise to new heights!
Must be between 50-250 lbs

Action Point Canopy Tour

Ages 10+
Zip through the air on our much-loved Canopy Tours! Each tour consists of a series of zip lines, platforms, and occasional rope bridge or rappel elements. Participants will zoom from treetop to treetop with amazing forest views and good laughs. Must be between 50-250 lbs
Activity Time: 1-2 hours
Age Restrictions: 8+

Laser Shot & Hunters' Hall

Visit the Crafton Skills Center to try your hand at hunting. The Center offers authentic shooting skill experiences and training through a variety of digital simulations in a virtual shooting gallery format. Participants will learn about firearms safety, safe range practices, and basic hunting skills.

5-stand Shotgun Shooting

Ready, aim, fire! Families can challenge themselves at the ‘Barrels’ range. Time at the range includes training, a safety briefing, and plenty of time to shoot as part of your 5-stand experience. 5-stand includes use of 12-Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotguns

Night Shoot:
5-stand Shotgun Shooting

Take a new challenge and enjoy a fun filled nighttime experience at our 5-stand shotgun range. This activity is right after sunset in our spring and fall seasons. Get ready to experience a different clay shoot with the family! 5-stand includes use of 12-Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotguns

High Powered Rifle Shooting

Ages 14+
Take your shooting experience to the next level with our rifle ranges at the ‘Barrels’! Aim down the sights of our .308 caliber rifles and shoot up to 20 rounds! All range activities include professional training, a safety briefing, and plenty of time to perfect your shot. *Includes use of equipment and Staff Instruction.

Age Restrictions: 16+

La Porte & Long Range Archery

$39 - $45/person
Ready, aim, loose! Upgrade your archery experience and test your reaction speed! Laporte archery is skeet shooting for the bow an arrow. Enjoy the satisfying feeling shooting foam disks out of the air! Afterwards, test your stability on our Olympic target style archery on a 30-50m range 30-50m.

Skateboarding & BMX Tracks*

$21- 25/Person
Ages 8+
The Action Point Skate Park and BMX Trax is a place for amateurs to learn and for pros to practice their next trick. It includes a fun combo of transitions, ramps, berms, and curves. First time? No problem. Our experts will teach the basics. We have turned many first timers into confident shredders.

Water Reality Obstacle Course

Test your water skills on our aquatic obstacle course on Goodrich West. Come and conquer our tall Ice Bergs and climb through the slippery logs. You will undoubtedly enjoy the cool water on a hot sunny day!

Note: All participants must pass a brief on-site swim check with staff

Mountain Biking

Ages 8+
From leg-burning climbs to fun descents, The Jared Harvey Mountain Bike Trail system is a “must-do” for any biker! The trails weave in and out of the woods and offer one of the coolest ways to take in the West Virginia scenery. From beginner bikers to expert cyclists, there’s a trail for everyone to enjoy!

Guided Property Tour

For families who want to see all that the Summit has to offer but don’t have much time, we offer a driving tour that visits all of Summit’s main attractions. A friendly and knowledgeable expert will guide the way on a tour of our beautiful site and give you an opportunity for some memorable photos.
