In this edition of Adventures in Service: Venturing to the Summit, Crew members learned the basics of paddling, boat handling and safety from local West Virginia whitewater guides. Then, those skills were put to the test on the river’s well-known rapids.
While one group from Venturing Crews 32 and 44 from North Carolina casted their way down the New River catching small mouth bass, another took a faster route on a whitewater rafting trip.
After a hard day’s work restoring some of the area’s natural habitat, the Crews got some time on the river as a reward.
