Founded in 1973, Kanawha Stone Company has helped to change the face of West Virginia, the Ohio Valley, the Appalachians, and the Mid-Atlantic region over those four decades. From small community projects and road repairs through major energy projects and creating bridges that connect communities, Kanawha Stone has been there to grow our region. None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our employees throughout the years.

As we celebrate 50 Years of Excellence in Construction, we invite you and your families to join us at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve for a day of celebrating, reconnecting with past and present team members, and looking forward to the years ahead of us while reminiscing on the one’s past.

Kanawha Stone will be celebrating all day on September 30th. Join us for the full day, the morning, or the evening. Whatever suits you best! We will have a full list of available activities as well as accommodations provided for you to choose.

The adventures...

While attending Summit at the Summit, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in two different adventures Saturday. We will also provide hiking maps to anyone who wants to enjoy the natural beauty of the Summit.

The Summit is accessible via I-77 and I-64 (via SR-19) just outside of Beckley, WV.

Yes, you can RSVP for lunch, dinner, or both.

What to Expect:

We will have a full day of music, games, and food for you to enjoy and hang out with other attendees!

We are still in the process of scheduling all activities. A detailed schedule will be posted soon.

Are there fun things to do near the Summit?

In Fayetteville (within 15 minutes of the North Gate): 

  • Wisteria’s Gifts – 147 S. Court St. 
  • Dove Village Shops (Country crafts, linens, unique decor) – 519 Hinkle
  • The New River Gorge Bridge & Visitor’s Center (a National Park offering hiking, river rafting and more) 

In Beckley: 

“Exhibition Coal Mine” is a Coal town example to tour. Miners guide a riding tour into a mine shaft with a historical glimpse of what mining was like in the height of the business during Rocket Boys years. 

Tamarack Marketplace is a MUST SEE for shopping (& lunch) as it is a WV Crafter’s Guild shopping of everything imaginable!  - 1 Tamarack Park in Beckley, about 30 min from SBR gate
