High Adventure Girl Scout Style

Last year we held the first ever Girl Scout Jamboree. With more than 11 different chapters and over 250 Girl Scouts in attendance, these young ladies bounced, and I mean bounced, between every activity we offer in the Scott Summit Center. They did it all, there was not a single attraction left uncharted. If one of the girls was reserved about doing an activity, her friends would help her overcome that hesitation and conquer that Zip-Line (or whatever it was)  then they would all stop for a selfie and post it right to Instagram. I watched this happen at almost every venue for the entire time they were here. It was an absolute ball hosting this event with the Girl Scout’s Black Diamond Council, but for 2016 they wanted to step it up.

So next summer we will be hosting a whole week dedicated to High Adventure for these ladies. The Paul R. Christen National High Adventure Base will be their playground and we can’t wait to see the excitement they bring to these venues. Adventure Valley, Thrasher Mountain, and The Ridge will all be available to them through their week long program where they will get to try every one of our Adventure Areas including one of our coolest features The Big Zip (that’s a 3300 Ft Zip-Line!). Jim Campbell, Summit’s Special Events Director, and Beth Casey, CEO of the Black Diamond Council, have been working on this since they wrapped up the Girl Scout Jamboree in 2015. They wanted to provide an experience for the Girl Scout organization that they wouldn’t find anywhere else and that is exactly what we do!

So if you are in a Girl Scout troop, or have a daughter in troop, and are looking for something fun, exciting, and educational to do next summer, we have the ticket for you. Check out the video below talking about the Girl Scout Jamboree in 2015 to see what some of their experiences were then stop by our page on the Girl Scout’s Destinations section of their website for more information on how you can sign-up for this Wild and Wonderful Adventure!
