Earn an Interpreter Strip

Scouts and leaders who are knowledgeable in a language other than English can test for an interpreter strip at the International Scouting Exhibit at Action Point. Strips can be earned for 11 different target languages including Arabic, Cantonese, Danish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai.

To earn an interpreter strip in a language, a Scout must carry on a five-minute conversation in the target language, translate a two-minute speech from English to the target language, write a letter in the target language and translate text from the target language to English.

The schedule for the rest of the jamboree is below. Interested Scouts should visit during the times their desired target languages are available.
