When most people think high adventure, they think of backpacking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. But, as participants at the Summit Shakedown learned, high adventure can be much more than the standard fare.
Skateboarding? At The Summit?
Some people see skateboarding as a reckless sport, but in the right environment – with some coaching and support – it is a superb way to stay in shape and have tons of fun![pullquote]“If I can do it, anyone can!” Zane N., Patrol Z[/pullquote]
Skateboarding at the Summit begins with an evaluation on the practice track. This gives participants a chance to get used to the board and allows the staff a chance to gauge skill levels.
Getting The Green Light.
Before you can grind on the rail or get air, you have to prove your skills to the skate park staff. Falling is no big deal; with a little one-on-one coaching from the skate park instructors you will be ready and on the course in no time. Said Zane N., another Patrol Z reporter who tried skateboarding for the first time at the Summit, “If I can do it, anyone can!”
Bigger And Better.
The best part is that the skate park that the Summit Shakedown participants got to try is only a taste of what participants at the 2013 National Jamboree will experience! An even bigger, badder, and radder park is planned for 2013!
