Special Guest Cartoonists – Mason and Mick Mastroianni – Wizard of Id

The team behind today’s special guest comic Wizard of Id, is Mason Mastroianni, who serves as the illustrator and Mick Mastroianni, who is the writer of the comic strip. The strip was originally created by Johnny Hart and illustrated by Brant Parker in 1964. The tradition now continues through Johnny’s grandsons. Today’s cartoon was created specifically to run in conjunction with the 2017 National Jamboree in celebration of Boy Scouting and Venturing.

Their matter-of-fact approach is developing the strip is Mick writes the gags (cartoon dialogue) and Mason draws them up. When asked why they support the Boy Scout of America, Mason said “I think it’s great to recognize the importance of encouraging young people to spend time in nature.” This outlook on why Scouting is important to young people highlights how Scouting is still highly beneficial to the development of today’s youth.
JamboLink thanks Mason, Mick and the whole Wizard of Id team. Learn more about them at their website or facebook page.
