Throughout the years, the program for many of our National Jamborees has included the opportunity for youth and unit leaders to earn an award for their participation. As its name implies, the participation award is intended for those attendees who visit and see most of what the Jamboree has to offer.
The requirements to earn this award are integrated with the new Jamboree Passport Program can be found below.
Participation Award Requirements (Scouts & Venturers)
- Participate in the jamboree passport program
- Interview a scout from another troop and journal your findings
- Carry your jamboree passport with you at all times
- Participate in the messengers of peace day of service with your unit
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Obtain the passport stamp from messengers of peace exhibit
- Participate in the jamboree trek to Garden Ground Mountain with your unit
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Obtain the passport stamp from Garden Ground Mountain
- Participate in the stadium experience program at the jamboree
- Attend all three of the AT&T summit stadium shows
- Participate in the basecamp bash in your basecamp or participate in the JamboPalooza in AT&T summit stadium
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Participate in one or more adventure sports programs and obtain the passport stamp from at least five (5) of the following:
- Zipline, canopy tour, challenge course, climbing & rappelling, bmx, skateboard, mountain biking, archery, shooting sports, aquatics
- Optional: river rafting
- Visit the Scott Summit Center and obtain the passport stamp from at least five (5) of the following exhibits (after spending at least 10 minutes in each exhibit):
- AT&T sponsor, West Virginia, Pulitzer Center, disability awareness, Brownsea Island, Scouting heritage, Boys Life/journalism, stem quest, Order of the Arrow, NESA, 2019 World Scout Jamboree, high adventure, McAllister family sustainability treehouse, duty to god and country
- Visit freedom field and/or freedom trail (military exhibits) or the conservation trail and obtain the passport stamp(s). Note: you may certainly visit both areas.
- Be an active member of your unit and a good citizen in your assigned subcamp
- Participate in the recycling program in your subcamp
- Participate in the planning and shopping for at least one meal
- Find out about opportunities to participate in the summer seasonal programs at Summit Bechtel Reserve in 2018
- Obtain the passport stamp from your subcamp or basecamp hq
- Demonstrate your faith while at the jamboree by doing the following
- Use the daily devotional guide in the summit jamboree app
- Meet your subcamp chaplain
- Learn and lead the summit grace for at least one meal
- Attend a worship service in your faith or another faith
- Commit to share your experiences with your scouting friends who did not attend the 2017 National Jamboree and encourage them to attend the next one
Participation Award Requirements (Unit Leaders)
- Participate in the jamboree passport program
- Interview a leader from another troop and journal your findings
- Carry your jamboree passport with you at all times
- Participate in the messengers of peace day of service with your unit
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Optional: obtain the passport stamp from messengers of peace exhibit
- Participate in the jamboree trek to Garden Ground Mountain with your unit
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Optional: obtain the passport stamp from Garden Ground Mountain
- Participate in the stadium experience program at the jamboree
- Attend all three of the AT&T Summit Stadium shows
- Participate in the basecamp bash in your basecamp or participate in the JamboPalooza event in AT&T Summit Stadium
- Journal your thoughts in your jamboree passport
- Volunteer to assist in one or more adventure sports programs and obtain the passport stamp from that program area from among the following areas:
- Zipline, canopy tour, challenge course, climbing & rappelling, BMX, skateboard, mountain biking, archery, shooting sports, aquatics
- Optional: river rafting
